The Police in Sokoto have denied the knowledge of abduction of over one hundred and fifty persons in Sabon Birni area few days after the gruesome murder of Sarkin Gobir Gatawa, Isa Muhammad Bawa.
Professor Bello Bada of Usman Dan Fodio University Sokoto had in an interview with Radio France International (RFI) Hausa on Saturday, said the kidnapping cases were recorded between when the late Emir was killed and last week Friday.
He also attributed the banditry problem to various factors.
The scholar said that this is not the first time that prominent leaders have been attacked, but it is the first time that an Emir has been gruesomely killed.
However, the Spokesman for the Sokoto State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Rufai in a telephone chat with our correspondent, said the police is not aware of the abductions.
